Meet the Team:

Dave Bigoness / Owner & CEO

Animal Med Express (AME) originated in 2013 when founder, Dave Bigoness, sat in the dining room of a small town burger joint while traveling through middle-of-nowhere Illinois. He looked at his wife and said, “Hun, I know what we’re going to do next.” Dave had spent nearly a decade in the pet grooming business, successfully running four locations, when a change in law presented a new opportunity. Prior to 2012, people were required to fill their pet’s prescription at a veterinarian’s office, but a new law gave people the freedom to have these prescriptions filled at a pharmacy as well. Dave recognized that people would love the convenience of picking up both their prescriptions and their pet’s prescription at a pharmacy instead of needing to swing by the vet’s office on the way home. With this realization, AME was born.

In 2013, Dave teamed up with his business partner and together they grew AME to serve over 2,500 pharmacies within 10 years. In 2026, he bought out his business partner’s shares and is now the sole owner of AME. AME provides prescription medications, OTC products, and nutritional supplements to pharmacies and has recently started offering OTC products to pet retail stores, as well.

Cortney Cooper / Customer Relations

Cortney is Dave’s daughter and joined AME in 2019 when the daily responsibilities of running a company surpassed what two individuals could manage. Cortney graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2015 with a degree in nursing and brings a unique perspective to the company having dealt with medications and pharmacies directly. Cortney enjoys hiking and is also an avid cyclist having completed a tour of the Natchez Trace Parkway in 2026.

Sam Cooper / Marketing & Sales

Sam is married to Cortney, his high school sweetheart, and is Dave’s son-in-law. He joined AME in 2025 coming from the world of investment management. He graduated from Austin Peay State University in 2016 with a degree in management and marketing. Sam enjoys hiking and completed a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail in 2025.
